Tiffany Floyd visual artist
I channel my thoughts, ideas, and feelings onto canvas, paper, or fabric by means of painting, printmaking, or quilting. My prints are pulled from silkscreens, wood blocks, Easy cut rubber, foam plates, or collagraph plates. My fiber works are mixed media and often combine soft and stiff fabrics, dyes, pigments, printed digital images, embroidery, quilting, Shibori dyeing techniques, and screen printing. At times I find ways to integrate hard, rigid materials such as mirrors and kiln-formed glass into my fiber pieces.
I create in an intuitive manner, choosing colors and creating compositions according to my present mood. My pieces tend to be intimately sized and detail oriented, requiring an up close and personal look from the viewer. My imagery includes bubbles and circles which symbolize my obsessions with feeling trapped in cycles, spaces and situations that occur in life.
